Isn’t Bubble.io just a fad? Surely the Bubble will soon burst…

Well, no.

Bubble’s core value proposition is this: “build custom web apps in 20–40% of the time as code”. At 3–5x speed of development, Bubble has the ears of any person or business wanting to launch an app or undergo digital transformation projects.

In my view, Bubble has staked its ground as THE most popular “consumer” facing no-code low-code (NCLC) platform in the world.

By consumer-facing, I mean that it is priced in a way that most people could afford. Most NCLC platforms are priced at x10 that of Bubble, a level only for established businesses.

Since I started using Bubble in 2020, it has gone from 700,000 users in Aug 2020 to 2.7mil in May 2023. This is almost 4x in 33 months, or around 60,000 additional users signing up per month.

In 2021, Bubble raised over $100mil USD, so it is relatively well funded to continue its quest to dominate this space.

Bubble.io has a huge lead on all of its competitors firstly because of its large community of users, and secondly because of its maturity among competing consumer NCLC platforms.

While Bubble is still emerging in its enterprise credentials (e.g. things the big guys care about like SOC2 certifications, location of data, etc), the ratio of available features to price is favorable towards Bubble, especially when compared to emerging consumer NCLC competitors.

Trust us. We’ve tried a few other “new” tools. They appear incomplete when compared with Bubble, and can only respond with “Well, if you find something you need, let us know and we’ll build it”.

IT leaders recognize that custom-coded apps are brittle to evolve and require huge budgets to maintain, while off-the-shelf software is overpriced and lacks customization.

Bubble and NCLC development generally fill the gap between these options.

They are here to stay and are in fact a huge growth sector.
